Brett Adams is a May graduate from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He has accepted a job doing large machinery design work for an engineering firm in Merrillville, Indiana.
Patrick Bolger, son of Tom and Mary Kay, graduated June 11 from North Central College in Naperville. Patrick received his B.S. degree in economics and finance and is currently interviewing with several banks, investment firms and other financial institutions. He had excellent grades throughout his college career and was a three-year starter for the NCC football Cardinals. He was voted all-conference both his junior and senior season and was named captain of the Cardinals his senior year. His team went 30-6 over his career and made it to the NCAA Division III national semi-final game in 2013. Patrick was also a mentor for under-classmen athletes for three years. He and his girlfriend, Danielle, hope to remain in the greater Chicago area.
Michael Colby graduated Cum Laude on May 7 from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Michael will be marrying his BHS sweetheart, Emma Haney (graduated from Loyola), on July 16 and honeymooning in Peru before beginning his job with Chicago-based Stanley Consultants. Michael & Emma will be calling the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago home.
Olivia Hagan graduated Barrington High School with honors. She will be attending University of Kentucky and there she will be studying early education at UK.
Trevor J Hannagan will be heading to St Louis, MO this fall to study technical theatre direction at Webster University, Conservatory of Fine Arts. Technical theatre has been his passion since working with the stage productions at Barrington Middle School. In high school, Trevor became involved with the drama club and took a specific interest in lighting design. Trevor has been inducted into the National Thespian Society (2015) and has worked for the BHS technical services crew for the past 3 years. It is not often someone so young can commit to a passion and choose to study it further at the collegiate level. Trevor is grateful to his parents for their support & his mentors at BHS theatre, Amy and John Tilford. He greatly appreciates the scholarship opportunities he has been awarded and looks forward to a successful college experience.
Now that Zac Hess has graduated high school , he will be attending the University of Iowa in the fall, where he will be studying business.
Mickey Kubala is a BHS class of 2016 graduate. He’s lived in Tower Lakes his entire life. This fall, he’ll be attending the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. As both of his parents spent time living in Europe, as well as working in various countries around the world, he is very interested in international business and culture. As a result, he plans to study abroad in Europe within the next couple years, hopefully in Spain or Italy.
Andrew and Elizabeth Messerschmidt graduated on May 24 from Barrington Middle School Station. They will both attend Barrington High School this fall. Andrew plans to be in the Drumline in the BHS marching band and will continue to work towards earning his Eagle Scout rank. Elizabeth plans to join the girls cross country and track teams at BHS.
Eden J Merkle will be in the lifeguard chair this summer at TL beach. Then she is headed to Pennsylvania in the fall to study environmental science and sustainability at Allegheny College in their 3/2 program with Duke University. She will be playing volleyball for the school’s team, the Gators. We are very proud of all her accomplishments and will miss her terribly.
Grace D Merkle will be leaving the world of Station Middle School to attend Barrington High in the fall. She is an Avid animal lover and speedy soccer player. Her goals this summer are to take a surfing class and sleep a lot.
Madison Miyake loved her high school years at BHS with her friends. She participated in soccer, Broncos Committed, Student Council, Student Mentor, and PE leaders. In the fall, she will be attending Butler University to study in their physician’s assistant program.
Mike O’Neill graduated with high honors from St. Viator’s High School on May. He played football, basketball and baseball his first two years. He continued to play baseball through his senior year where he started in left field. He was part of the student council and Ambassadors Club for 4 years and he was a member of National Honor Society. Mike was accepted to the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University where he plans to study accounting/finance.
Myles Oppermann will be graduating from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, December 2016. At the University, Myles works as a teaching assistant for an electronic music synthesis related class and will be performing research with Lippold Haken, the inventor of the Haken Continuum. This summer, Myles is an engineering intern at Shure Inc. in Niles, and hopes to find work in the audio or consumer electronics field.
Christie Parro graduated with honors from DePaul University in Chicago in June 2016 with a BA degree in art history and a minor in studio art and psychology. In the fall, she will pursue her master’s degree in contemporary art at Sotheby’s Institute in London. She won the Gordon Lang Scholarship from Sotheby’s, a competitive award based on writing skills, which covers tuition for the top rated incoming student.
Connor Vondrak is graduating from 8th grade and is excited to be attending Barrington High School this fall. Connor loves playing baseball, fishing, and water skiing. He’s looking forward to another fun summer in Tower Lakes.
