Little Library for Tower Lakes

litttle lib Elaine MAfter 26 years of teaching, Tower Lakes resident Elaine Moffitt received an unusual and charming retirement gift — a little library. Her co-workers at Conyers Learning Academy in Palatine, where Elaine taught at-risk children, knew of her love of books and desire to give back to her community. “I saw a little library in Ohio and thought it would be a great idea for Tower Lakes,” said Elaine.

Little libraries are popping up all over the country as a free way for people to place small, weatherproof boxes in their communities. They are stocked with books for the public to take and return. When someone takes a book, the intent is to replace it with another one. Elaine will be the steward of the box, which has been placed near the beach parking lot. “I’m excited to see members using and contributing to this little library. I’m thrilled to contribute to Tower Lakes in this way.”
