Lathan’s Landing Renovation Status

The Circle Drive Park & Lathan’s Landing Renovation project kicked off on September 28.  The entire project consisted of three separate tasks. The first was to spread, seed, and stabilize a portion of the collected sediment at Circle Drive Park.  That work was completed October 9 and grass is growing in the park!  The second task was to remove and replace the failed drainage system from North Lake to the Main Lake Channel.  That work was completed the first week of October.  The third task is to renovate a depression which was carved from stormwater overflow (due to the failed drainage system) and to turn the site into a quality boat landing.

The first two tasks did not require permits since the work did not directly impact the Main Lake Channel shoreline or water quality.  Unfortunately, our construction contractor had to stop work on the project mid October since the relevant permits (applications which were submitted in July) from U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) and Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (LCSWM)  were not yet issued.  Final permit approvals from USACE and LCSWM were received in November.  The current plan is to have the contractor restart the work after Thanksgiving and complete the boat landing by mid December.  Let’s hope the weather cooperates!
