Around this time each year, as school winds down, I tend to reflect back to my youth. I’m sure many of you do too. Do you remember your favorite day in school? Was it the day you got that smiley-face sticker on your homework? Was it when you were crowned #1 in the spelling bee? For me, it was always the last day of school!
The last day, for me, meant I cleaned out my locker, looked forward to baseball, the pool, and just hanging out in the sunshine. Those great lazy days when my mom kicked me out of the house in the morning, and I spent the day running around the neighborhood.
Many neighborhoods aren’t like that anymore, except Tower Lakes. Our community has many great activities for your kids, all summer long, thanks to a fantastic Youth Committee. This group of dedicated women have planned a great line-up of family-friendly activities throughout the year. Just take a look around this month’s newsletter and you will read about them: Tot Soccer, The End of School Party, Lacrosse Camp, Summer Story Time, Movie Night, T-Ball, and finally, a Back to School Party. And I haven’t even mentioned the beach or youth tennis and all the activities planned there.
No matter what your age or interest, TLIA has plans for our young people this summer.
Really, just read about it in this newsletter, sign up for activities, show up, play! The details are on page 7 and the Youth Committee has provided a variety of entertaining, inexpensive activities, right in our own neighborhood. Next time you see a member of the Youth Committee or attend an event, say “Thank you for providing such wonderful entertainment for my kids.”
What a great summer ’17 it’s going to be! I wish I was 12 again!
