Spring has sprung all over Tower Lakes and we all know what that means for TLIA…It’s volunteer season. I have never seen a community so involved in activities and volunteerism as we are. Our members step up, show up and pitch in like no other.

The start of a new season brings no shortage of projects all around the village with opportunities to pitch in. May 9 is one of the first of the opportunities to help our Grounds Committee at the annual spring cleanup day. One of the big projects this year is the renovation and sprucing up of Lindy Lewis Park, a.k.a. The Gazebo.  Another is our involvement and cooperation with our local Boy Scouts earning their Eagle Scout ranking through community service projects. The first of these is well underway at Cypers Pond/Gorden Lewis Park. Stuart Middleditch is spearheading this project and can use all the volunteer help we can offer.

As summer approaches, the Social Committee is actively looking for volunteers to head projects and activities for the Fourth of July. There is no shortage of potential volunteer opportunities in food services, games, activities, set-up/clean-up, and beach activities. All areas are all open for willing volunteers. As you know, the committee is in the midst of re-organizing itself for 2015 and now is a great time to step up and sign up for the new committee operating structure. It holds great promise for more opportunities with less time commitment by individuals. Ask a current committee member

For those of you more interested in indoor volunteerism, see my column last month about a proposal to the TLIA Board coming at the May meeting. We are looking to form an Archive Committee. TLIA records are in need of organization and we need people with specific skills to help. Maybe your talents are more suited to that form of involvement.

Anyway you slice it, there are opportunities everywhere to add your talents and creative abilities to better our community. Join in the fun and step up to the action. Join a committee, get involved, run an activity for the Fourth or help out the young men working toward Eagle. It is all here waiting for YOU!
