NOTES FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD – JULY 2018

/NOTES FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD – JULY 2018

Randy Young, TLIA President

Well, it’s here again: July 4th! It is the most special time of year for us here Tower Lakes. A time of family gatherings, family fun, community spirit, and of course music, food and the lake.

“Lake Life” is the theme this year and where is it more poignant than here? After all, we enjoy the best parts of life, work, and family anywhere in the world, right here in our neighborhood.

We, of course, have the great volunteers of the Events Committee to thank for all you see and do in our community on this holiday. They work tirelessly for months to bring it all together. They also bring into action the support of the Grounds, Beach, Communications, Beautification, Tennis, Finance, Youth, Lake, and Member Services Committees as well. Each and all willingly add their efforts to deliver this great celebration to our community.

Speaking of support…take a look around. Notice your neighbors working in the tents, on the stage, at the events, and the beach. Check out those cleaning up, setting up, tearing down, all the worker bees moving around you. These are the heroes of this nearly week-long celebration. They are your neighbors working to make this a wonderful family event, for you.

I encourage you to please take a moment to say thank you to them. But even better, take a moment and think how much better it could be with your help, your volunteer effort. Expand that moment into action and join us. Join a committee. Lead an event. How about running for the TLIA Board?! Bring your ideas to the table and watch them come to life —  not only on the 4th of July 2019, but all year long. We have plenty of room for you and your new ideas!

You can make this positive decision right now, not tomorrow. Don’t put it off. You’ll never regret getting involved. I promise. It’s your neighborhood, so why not make it better? All of this around you… take a look, I’ll wait…All of this happens only when neighbors, just like you, join in and work together.

I encourage you to be the next factor in the equation of creative solutions for TLIA. You can be that volunteer, that example to your kids, to your friends, and to your neighbors. You can be what Tower Lakes is made of:  great people doing great things for a great neighborhood. Just ask me, I’ll help you all along the way!
