oliviaOlivia Washington is graduating 5th grade from North Barrington Elementary. She is looking forward to going to Station Middle School next year, where she has just been accepted into the Extended Art Program and will continue to play viola in Orchestra for her 3rd year. She dreams of being a gymnast and is currently on “Team” at Kids in Action. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her sister, Sophia and brother, AJ.  The Washington Family is very proud of her…Keep up the Good Work!

 

ajThe Washington Family proudly announces that Adrian J. Washington aka “AJ” recently graduated from the Early Learning Center in Barrington. He has been accepted into the Chinese Immersion program in Dist. 220 and is looking forward to this new experience.  This summer, he plans to take a basketball camp, Tower Lakes swim classes as well as play with his sisters, Olivia and Sophia and  all his friends at the beach.  Way to go, AJ!

Elizabth Badskey-U of I Graduation May 2015

 

 

When Elizabeth Badskey graduated May 16 from University of Illinois she was awarded a Bachelors of Social Work.  She is part of the Alpha Delta Mu National Social Work Honor Society. Next year Elizabeth plans to continue at the University of Illinois completing her Masters of Social Work.

 

Matthew_Grad_PortraitMatthew Hancock is a 2015 graduate of Barrington High School.  While at BHS, Matthew was a member of the Hockey Team, Band, Orchestra, and Library Board, graduating in the top 5% of his class.  He also played the bassoon for the Midwest Young Artist’s Symphonic Orchestra. Matthew will be attending Vanderbilt University in the fall and is currently undecided in a major.

 

 

 

MC SolymosseyA recent graduate of Mizzou (University of Missouri) Mary Kate Solymossy received her Bachelor’s degree in Urban Forestry, with Minors in Plant Science and Studio Art. While in attendance she worked for Mizzou Wedding Floral Design. She is currently working at Barrington Area Conservation Trust and Ringers Landscaping. (She is happy to help out with flowers for weddings and events!)

 

 

 

Receiving both a B.A in philosophy and a B.S. in psychology,  Maryann Thompson MA Thompsonrecently graduated from Tulane University in Louisiana.  She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated summa cum laude with many other departmental and university honors and awards. At Tulane, Maryann completed a study on reporting incidences of prejudice in the workplace, directed the expansion of an after-school tutoring program for elementary students, worked as a fitness instructor and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She will be attending law school in the fall.

Owen Reith recently graduated from Barrington High School.  He was involved in a variety of activities – including BHS’s school newspaper, The Roundup, and the BHS baseball team. He will be attending Carthage College in Wisconsin where he will study Finance and German, as well as play baseball.

Kenny Scharm graduated with honors from Barrington High School. One of the highlights of his senior year was when his robotics team placed 27th at the World Championship. He will pursue a major in computer science at Georgia Tech.

Ian Mackey graduated BHS in May. While there, he was on the hockey team. He works as a lifeguard at the TL beach. Ian plans to play junior hockey in the fall in order to pursue a spot on a NCAA Division One college team.

Connor Mackey also is a recent graduate of BHS. While there, he was on the golf team, the hockey team and also played trombone in the band. He works as a lifeguard at the TL beach. Connor was drafted in the USHL (Tier One Juniors) and plans to play junior hockey in order to pursue a spot on a NCAA Division One college team.

Joe Bolger graduated from Barrington High School on May 29th.  During his time at BHS Joe got excellent grades and over his career was part of the Bronco football team, hockey team and track team.  In the classroom Joe excelled in math and science as well as the STEM-based Project, Lead the Way, engineering program.  Joe plans to study engineering at Iowa State University in the fall. He has lived in  Tower Lakes since he was four years old and has been seen driving his John Deere lawn tractor around the Village for the last several years while attending to his lawn service business.

Alyssandra Howe-Hutson will be attending Illinois State in the fall. She plans on majoring in Physics and continuing her 07-Alessandra Hustoninvolvement in the band as a percussionist. She is keeping busy this summer as a Tower Lakes lifeguard and as an assistant to the marketing team at Awana.

 

 

Nick CovekWhile at Barrington High School, Nick Covek played 4 years of baseball and was a Student Council member. He was a recipient of a scholarship from Barrington American Legion Post 158 as well as an Illinois State Scholar. Nick will be attending Concordia University Wisconsin in the Fall. He has committed to and is looking forward to playing baseball for the Falcons.

 

 

 

Since age 2, Tate Fisher has lived in Tower Lakes. He has always loved the outdoors and especially the lakes and islands that make tate fisherTower Lakes so unique. For his Eagle Scout project, he has chosen to give back to Tower Lakes by revitalizing the Gazebo overlooking the lake. A perfect spot to remember Tower Lakes.

In high school, Tate was active in Cross Country, Track, Lacrosse and Ultimate Frisbee. He also participated in Model UN, the Special Olympics and Mentoring in the grade schools. One of the highlights during his time at BHS was his trip to Seville, Spain hosted by the Spanish Department. His love of the language and culture will most definitely carry him back there one day. This fall, Tate will be attending the University of Iowa where he will be studying Biomedical Engineering. He’s interested in helping people and contributing to the medical field.
