About Tennis Committee
WE have all kinds of tennis activities. Our courts are open from May1st till Oct 31st.
Our main objective is to set up social play-educational lessons and to maintain the courts in safe playable conditions.
History
In the late 60’s and early 70’s Tennis was becoming a very popular sport-A group of Tennis players spearheaded by Ray Spiess formed a committee to upgrade our tennis program-We had only one cement court at ground level and it was always flooded. This was the formation of our present day Tennis Program. Two new courts were built on our present site. Programs and lessens were given by qualified residents. Dick Steiner, a pilot with United Airlines. was our resident pro. Many of the youth who have played in our Tower Lake programs have gone on to play on the Barrington High School Varsity team and a few played college tennis. Some were Chicago District Tennis Association and national ranked Tennis players.
